How many times a day should you water a newly laid lawn?
When a lawn is newly laid, it is important to maintain it properly to ensure rapid and optimal growth. As long as the soil remains fresh and moist deep down, watering is not necessary. As a general rule, for 8 to 10 days after sowing your lawn, you should water your seeds to keep them constantly moist. Make sure the water jet is not too strong, but rather a gentle, light rain, to prevent the seeds from moving.
Note that the seedlings do not need to be watered deeply, as they have not yet taken root in the soil. Depending on the weather conditions, the lawn will need to be watered almost every day (sometimes several times a day) to keep the soil moist. Morning dew also helps keep the soil moist, requiring no additional watering.
If you have laid sod on your land, or turf, watering must be more intensive. Indeed, your lawn must be completely soaked with water, which requires watering a large amount of water on your land every day, including on rainy days. It is recommended to water your land in the late afternoon, when the sun is less shining on the ground and therefore, water evaporates less, in addition to allowing it to penetrate the soil better.
